Here's a top 10 list of more or less musical and magical moments that made this last decade for me.

01. The birth of my first child
02. The joy of working with Swedish label Kning Disk
03. Seeing Gillian Welch live in a small Stockholm venue
04. The thrill of releasing my debut album in 2006
05. The start of a life long love affair with Swedish artist Håkan Hellström
06. Being in and around a fantastic Swedish underground scene with bands/acts like Promise and the Monster, ASS, Jeniferever, Jonathan Johansson, Tape, Johan Heltne, Andreaz Hedén, OK Star Orchestra, Musette, Eric Malmberg, Top Hawk, Johan Borgert, Oskar Schönning, Finn Loxbo, etc, etc, etc...
07. Seeing Bruce Springsteen live, at last
08. The shrinkage of the music world -- that makes it possible for a small artist like me to get fan mail from the smallest corners of the globe
09. My discovery in the great Swedish novelist Selma Lagerlöf - read her, for God's sake!!!
10. And finally, the album of the decade is Midlake's "The trials of Van Occupanther"

---------------------------
Rickard's sophomore album "The valleys" is out now via Kning Disk. Aside concentrating on being a father in 2010, he also plans to collaborate on a new project with the band Musette.

My top ten is not necessarily made up by the best experiences this year, but the ones that I remember for different reasons. This is probably in no way representative for 2009, rather the last quarter. Anyway, here goes in no particular order:

Erik Enocksson - Man tänker sitt (soundtrack, although the movie was not as good as I wanted it to be)
The Mary Onettes - Dare EP
Stig Dagerman - Bibliography (books)
Animal Collective - In the flowers (song)
The Radiohead re-releases
Arcade Fire - Miroir noir (DVD, I know it was released in late 2008, but I got around to watch it this summer)
Bored to Death (tv-series)
The Kissaway Trail - Favourite dream (song)
Jeniferever - Spring tides (for being way too underrated)
Strage Text by Fredrik Strage (book)

---------------------------
We are the Storm are currently (mid-Nov) recording a short movie as an alternative way of releasing/presenting new music and also writing songs for an upcoming full-length release that is going to be recorded before the thawing of the streets of Uppsala.

Okay, today's mp3 post is from Danish post-rock act Lis Er Stille and I'm letting Jason Christie do the talking:WOW! WOW! WOW! Move over Logh, Jeniferever, Appliance, Thom Yorke go work for Greenpeace and the rest of the postrock proggists can veg themselves out on "The construction of amp-train" with Lis Er Stille. They are not very pretentious, they are just plain pretentious. Four tracks, three lead up - funnily enough - to the "End credits". Yep, one large chunk of a good 36 production tracks of music on two or three interpolating subtle compostions, bright and breezy, titled then crescendoed give up an overriding monster of almost quarter of an hour in length."End credits" (which is the only 'real' track on this EP) is epic in its entirety and, after a few snippets of Madrugada in part one, morphs into something likening prog-rock with skittle drums and circulating song lyrics. All of which is very atmospheric, along with the fairground - think house of horrors - squeals, drills and spiral sounds. I liked this, it works well at 3am.

Tiger Lou meets Jeniferever on British soil was a bit like a double A-side single from your favourite band, or a split single, as is now the done thing.

Like a footballer on a goal spree, TL are enjoying a string of sold-out shows meaning this debut streched that tally to keeping them a European Captial Sell out act. (Berlin, Stockholm and London of late).

You have TL, slated for V2 UK issue soon, and Jeniferever with an album impending release on DiS, and the latter turning out to their second sold-out show in less than a month in the UK capital.

A bit like that first job post University - Tiger Lou cut their cloth as might suit them for the future. In demand. In touch. Incredible.

Tiger Lou opened professionally with a long instrumental to allow for sound levels to be properlly set then bellted into "The loyal" then therafter ripping songs mainly from the current album - if you want to know exactly what songs, then ask someone in their guestbook. From recollection, best were the punkier, moodier deliveries: "Until I'm there", "My very own blood", "Sell out" and a cracking rendition of the best song of the night: "Nixon". Allowing hype and euphoria prevailing with rafters packed and anticipation unrivalled. The loudest reposnse in T!T!T!'s short histroy some said. "The punk rock" set said Tiger Lou.

With no encore, the night headed into It's a Trap DJs - Nick Levine & Per Apelqvist who slung down the tracks to marry into Jeniferever's start.

Post-rock bonanza followed, and as pre-warmed, Jeniferever played each of the four songs from their Myspace page (how 2006 is that?) - the not-so-shabby new songs "Swimming eyes" and "From across the sea" were the best of the lot. Oddliy the band took their curtain call from the toilet...then of course, this is rock'n'roll.

Both bands were watched by peers from The Perishers, Firefox AK, La Tour, Redjetson. Do the math. They were that attractive.

Twelve years ago Dr. Alban were supported by E-Type just down the road at the Mean Fiddler - how times have changed....and it wasn't all good in the old days.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Swedish post-rock is on the rise. Bands like Logh and Audrey are already receiving international attention, but there's also plenty of worthy up-and-comers. Caterpillar Ghost is one of those bands. The group has been around for quite awhile it seems, but the new EP "My beautiful revolution" that just came out last month on Signature Tune in the UK is my first exposure to them. Their sound doesn't exactly stick to the epic soundscape blueprint of GYBE! and the like - instead, they dabble in other stylistic modes and choose to mix things up with creative off-kilter rhythms and weaving guitar lines. The song I've posted today covers all the bases and shows just how versatile these guys can be. It's also worth noting that CPG features one-quarter of the members from fellow Swedish post-rockers Jeniferever who I understand are currently recording their debut album at Tonteknik in Umeå. Either that, or they will be soon if they aren't already done. Anyhow, that's another name to potentially watch out for in this genre. Wait and see!

Like Appleseed Cast, these guys play dreamy pop that often stretches into epic post-rock territory. They\'ve certainly got a lot of good ideas and the right instincts and I especially like the bits where they incorporate extra instrumentation such as strings and trumpet, but are a bit lacking when it comes to songwriting and arrangements and subsequently lose me in the big picture. I think if they worked on doing better transitions and added a bit more dynamics, they\'d do okay.

10 best Swedish "music cities" and the bands that made it happen: (No specific order)

01. Göteborg - Silverbullit, Audrey, TSOOL, the Tough Alliance and a thousand of others showed the rest of Scandinavia which city that is the music city #1
02. Uppsala - Jeniferever, the bombastic beauty of music comes from these guys.
03. Malmö - Scraps of Tape, Swedish post rock may have a future.
04. Umeå - Isolation Years, KVLR, Koma, Cult of Luna - do I need to say more?
05. Västerås - Seven Feet Four - one of the most explosive live performances I saw this summer.
06. Haninge - Suburban Kids With Biblical Names, Ellis the Vaccumchild and Tubular Bells all gave less or more to the Swedish indie scene.
07. Gränna - Patrik Torsson's "Kolvätesserenader" was the bomb! Now he's getting more explosives ready.
08. Stockholm - Tiger Lou, Tiger Lou, Tiger Lou - wherever we went this summer. And all the other singer & songwriters seem to be located in Sweden's main city.
09. Eskilstuna - Jettie "Heading for mornings" kept me warm.
10. Luleå - Mattias Alkberg BD, and Mattias the Bear Quartet - all time favorites! Park Hotell will also contribute
