You can now hear new tracks that Park Hotell recorded with Jari Haapalainen (The Bear Quartet, Laakso, etc.) at myspace: http://www.myspace.com/parkhotell
The band still remains unsigned and is actively seeking a label to work with.

MP3: Markus Krunegård - Jag är en vampyr

Ok, so here we have the debut solo single from Laakso frontman Markus Krunegård, "Jag är en vampyr". The myspace page says "gothic" and the synth reinforces that, as does the title ("I am a vampire"). Otherwise, aside from the choice of language, it's not really all that different from Laakso. I don't have the recording credits in front of me, but I'd be mighty surprised if that wasn't Lars Skoglund on the drums, as that hi-hat heavy playing is most certainly his style. Which is to say, it's good. Surprise! Actually, it is a bit more low-key than usual as Markus never totally lets loose and wails, but whatever- it's good to confound expectations every now and then. Now, as for what this portends with regards to the upcoming album "Markusevangeliet", I can't say for sure as I've only heard a few tracks. I'm excited though.

The new Markus Krunegård (Laakso) solo single "Jag är en vampyr" is streaming at myspace along with a few other tracks: http://www.myspace.com/markuskrunegrd

Bonnier Amigo Music has signed Anna Maria Espinosa (Moder Jords Massiva, Club Killers) and will be sending her into the studio with producer Jari Haapalainen (The Bear Quartet, Laakso, etc.) to record her debut album. As for the actual songs she'll be doing, she's lined up an illustrious cast including Ellekari Larsson (The Tiny), The Concretes, The Plan, Mattias Hellberg, Andreas Mattsson, Moder Jords Massiva, Nicolai Dunger and of course, the aforementioned Jari Haapalainen. Expect a fall release.

Folke, the pop alias of jazz bassist Torbjörn Zetterberg, will release his self-titled debut solo album on April 2 via Finest Quality Recordings. The record was produced by Johan Berthling (Tape, The Tiny) and features guest appearances by Ellekari Larsson and Leo Svensson (The Tiny), John Eriksson (Peter Bjorn and John), Lars Skoglund (Laakso), Ola Hultgren (Loney, Dear), Tomas Hallonsten (Tape) and more. Laakso frontman Markus Krunegård will release his debut solo album "Markusevangeliet" on April 2 via Universal Records. The first single "Jag är en vampyr" gets a digital release on February 20 with, as mentioned before, the vinyl 7" version to follow in April via Nomethod.

Laakso frontman and soon-to-be solo artist Markus Krunegård is taking over Annika Norlin's (Hello Saferide, Säkert!) position as host of the Swedish Radio program P3 Live Session. His debut show will be February 20 with Swedish hip-hop artists Adam Tensta and Petter.

Nomethod will be putting out a 7" from Markus Krunegård of Laakso featuring the single "Jag är en vampyr" b/w "Samma nätter väntar alla". 500 copies, April release, sure to disappear fast. Also look for the debut solo single from Mixtapes & Cellmates frontman Robert Svensson in late February. That one's called "1987" and features guest vocals from Adam Olenius of the Shout Out Louds. The b-side to that will be a remix from labelmate Matts Katt.
