Per Egland + Kicki Halmos - Svårt att förstå

PSL has the premiere of a new collaboration track featuring Per Egland and Kicki Halmos (Masquer): http://blogg.svt.se/psl/2012/02/22/extra-peregland/
Said tune is from Per's new album "Allt för din skuld" (due out March 7) and will also be released as a split single with Masquer covering Per's old song "Franco för mig" on the flip.

Per Egland - Ingen morgon ingen dag (video)

Via PSL: "It's the early 90s and the new E4 highway must be fed through the small community Utansjö, north of Härnösand (Northern Sweden). Fifteen houses must be demolished. In one of the houses lives factory worker Lars Engström and his wife Doris. Lars decides to document the life-changing event. First he films the houses neighboring families have left, for the last time. On the day when the excavators will level the houses to the ground, he is there with his VHS camera. Lars films the moment when the house that he and Doris lived, becomes scrap.
The depressing memory has been stored in a drawer at the home of Lars since then, but now it has gained new life as a music video to the PSL favorite Per Egland's (new album coming up soon, Per?) fine pop song "No tomorrow no today". Cutting and editing by Tommy Olsson and Marcus Storm."

Masquer prepare debut single

The excellent Swedish indie duo Masquer (featuring Kicki Halmos, also in Lowood) will be releasing their official debut single "Happiness" on May 4. Said single was produced by Per Egland and will also include a b-side remix from The Field. A full-length album will follow in fall, to be distributed via /.

MP3: Martin Senter - Elak

I don't mean to be one of those sites who leaves you bereft of fresh content during the holidays, at least not yet, but the truth of the matter is that I've actually been working too damn much. As in dayjob work; the stuff that pays the bills. So while I have a rather large backlog of news item waiting to be posted that will still have to wait until another day, let me share with you a new solo track from Martin Senter called "Elak". It's got the bounce of his Per Egland remix, but it's also got the same sort of indie/electronic quirk as that other solo track of his I posted awhile back. Either way, it's good stuff and it'll be interesting to see what he does with a full album and I do believe one is coming. Whether it'll beat EL-SD to the punch, I dunno, but I'm looking forward to both.

MP3: Per Egland - Merkurius brinner

9 out of 10 times I delete every remix track that hits my inbox before listening because they are almost always invariably: 1) worthless 2) boring 3) awful or 4) all of the above. I can't be bothered; I already spend way too much time listening to music I don't like and I honestly would rather listen to something that's obviously terrible than some mediocre retread of a song I didn't care about in the first place. At least then I have the good sense to turn it off 30 seconds in rather than wait fruitless in hopes it might get good. There are always exceptions though and this reworking of Per Egland's "Merkurius brinner" ("Mercury is burning") as done by Martin Senter (Seven Feet Four, EL-SD, Talking to Drake, etc.) works quite well because it completely reinvents the tune. Honestly, the original (listen at myspace) isn't all that; a fine, but ultimately unfulfilling upbeat dirge. Senter's take kicks the tempo way way up and turns it into something far closer to Gbg-style indiepop than I thought was possible. From bummer to summer, this is the way to do it.
