Raised Fist
The sound of the republic
Burning Heart Records

On this album Raised Fist have pushed the limits a bit more. We're still talking about pissed-off, aggresive hardcore here, but the band has made its most diverse set of songs yet. While the first couple of EPs was strongly influenced by Youth Of Today and the old-school hardcore scene, this album contains more metal breakdowns, hard-hitting grooves, no compromising vocals and even more rawk. Yes, it's true, Swedens finest hardcore act (still existing, that is) have a few rock n' roll influenced tunes on this one. And I like it! It keeps the album together perfectly. One of the best things that ever happened to the band was the recruitment of Matte Modin, (and by that I'm not saying that former drummer Oskar Karlsson didn't do a great job), the Dark Funeral-drummer gives them a push forward not imaginable before. I've been in love with Raised Fist ever since they released the "You're not like me"-EP and my love is still intact with "The sound of the republic". In fact, it's even more passionate than before! When it eventually comes time to put together a list of the best albums of 2006, this one will probably be on my top 10.

Raised Fist explains their cancellation of the 'Close-Up Made Us Do It' tour: http://www.burningheart.com/newspub/news_content.php?fileName=168 (in Swedish)

And speaking of that Close-Up tour, Raised Fist has been forced to cancel due to sickness in the band. Nine will take their place and C.Aarmé will tag along for the ride.

Happy turkey-day to all you Americans! Here's just a short update on a few things today:

Dead Frog Records has signed the band Waver. You might've heard em before, as their song "The Things You Told Me" was featured in the 2002 movie "Den Osynlige" (The Invisible). Bandmember Andreas Alfredsson also composed the score. The duo, which is made up of songwriter/musician/producer Alfredsson and singer/songwriter Josefina Andersson, is said to utilize "sweeping melodies and delicate guitar lines" that sound like "the soundtrack to Swedish winters." But don't take the official bio's word for it, download some songs yourself right here: http://www.deadfrogrecords.com/artists/waver/

The group has been busy recording throughout the past year at numerous studios around Sweden, including Umeå's famous Tonteknik Recordings and plan to release their debut album for DFR in April, 2004.

Entombed guitarist Uffe Cederlund has joined Disfear on second guitar. That means he'll be doing double duty with both bands during the Close-Up Made Us Do It tour which kicks off on December 3 and also features Raised Fist. As mentioned before, Disfear is another in the long line of dis-core bands (see Discharge) and features ex-At the Gates vocalist Tomas Lindberg.
