MP3: September - Can't get over

I had really high hopes for the new September single "Can't get over". Her last album "In orbit" was 100% solid from front to back, so I fully expecting that her follow up would be something big, bombastic even. Sadly, I have been left disappointed. It's an okay track, but nowhere near what I consider to be an adequate lead single. The disco mix improves (as posted today in the shortened version) on it a bit by making the beat busier and more driving, but the vocal is on the wrong side of impassioned. She's certainly got it in her to belt out the chorus, but it ain't happening. First impressions are important and I'm just not that impressed.

September's new single "Can't get over" is out on June 20, the first taste of what's to come from her forthcoming album due out this fall. I don't listen to a lot of big mainstream pop, but I do like September quite a bit and actually was just listening to 2006's "In orbit" yesterday. Not a bad track on that one.

Catchy Tunes/Family Tree Music

Anything reminding me of Paul Oakenfold this morning is certainly not my idea of a nice wake up call. I'll admit that September don't go the trance route, but have enough of the house staples to lose me in a second. Back when I had friends dragging me to dance clubs I was hearing this crap all the time. Despite the fact that September actually has a singer that has a nice melodic sensibility, the music is about as much fun as a root canal done by an Abu Grahib guard. Not my idea of a good time.
