The Confusions prep 20th anniversary single

The Confusions are celebrating their 20th anniversary with the release of the new digital single "Skalka", a track they originally recorded back in 1999 but never officially released except as a bonus cut on the Japanese version of the album "Trampoline" in 2003. Rounding out the release is the previously unheard b-side "Monday" and a digital booklet with full liner notes. Preview at YouTube: http://youtu.be/FAM05lXtDn4

SF-based label Devil in the Woods will be placing Swedish act The Confusions on two upcoming compilations, the first with the song "Skalka" and the second featuring an acoustic version of "The pilot". There might even be a 7" single in the works too, but nothing is set yet. In other news, the band has made the track "Thin" available as a free download: http://www.theconfusions.com/media/sounds/The_Confusions_Thin.mp3

The Confusions have a new video for "The plan" as directed by Örjan Markusson: http://www.vimeo.com/846228

The new all-acoustic EP from The Confusions, aptly named "It sure looks like The Confusions but it sounds more acoustic", is out now and available via paid digital download or limited-edition CD only directly from the band or label (Massproduktion). So to further entice you, the band is offering up a sample track for free: http://www.theconfusions.com/media/sound/the_confusions-all_dressed_up-acoustic.mp3

The Confusions will release the new semi-live album "It sure looks like The Confusions but it sounds more acoustic" on April 25 and will celebrate with a special acoustic ('natch) show at Pipeline in their hometown of Sundsvall, Sweden. The album, as the title suggests, includes live records of 10 old songs plus one new one (and a few choice studio overdubs, thus my "semi-live" label). The band is also working on a new studio record for release later this year and is also working on releases outside of Scandinavia.

Swedish pop act The Confusions have posted some new (old) soundclips on their website: http://www.theconfusions.com/

The Confusions have posted a pair of live recordings for free download. First up is a recording of six songs from their record release show at Pipeline in Sundsvall: http://www.theconfusions.com/media/sound/confusions_live_releaseparty@pipeline060225.mp3
Second is an interview/acoustic-performance from the Swedish radio show "This is music" on Stockholm-based 95.3. The interview is in Swedish only unfortunately, but there's 4 songs performed as well: http://www.theconfusions.com/media/sound/confusions@thisismusic_studentradio.mp3

The title track is a catchy little rocker. The beat is driving and the vocals are just gruff on the chorus enough to give the tune a bit more extra power than you'd normally expect to hear from these guys. Nice stuff. The b-sides however, well... they're b-sides. There's a good reason they didn't make the final cut for the forthcoming album.

The Confusions' new album "5:am" has been confirmed for a February 16 release via Massproduktion.

The Confusions have been selected to contribute a track for the upcoming "One nation" charity compilation, to be released in the UK in June or July via Audiovisual Records. All proceeds go to two UK hospices, Hope House and Claire House. More info: http://www.audiovisualrecords.co.uk/
