General:
This site is optimized for viewing in Firefox, but should work reasonably well in any modern browser. However, if you think you've found a bug, please let us know! Be sure to include your specific browser version, operating system and a screenshot, if possible.
RSS:
In case your browser doesn't auto-detect the location of our main RSS feed, it is located here: http://www.itsatrap.com/rss/
For auxilliary feeds relating to custom filters, artist pages and such, either refer to the auto-detected URL, or append "/alt/rss" onto the end of the URL in your location bar.
In-Browser Search:
For browsers with built-in search capabilities, click here to add It's a Trap! to your list.
Navigating the Sidebar/Subcategories:
See those little black arrows? Try clicking them. Otherwise, go ahead and try the popular tag links at the bottom of the page. Or better yet, go ahead and create yourself a custom filter.
Artist Tooltips/Watchlist:
The artist tooltip links and watchlist features are enabled for all artists entered in our database, which is an ongoing work in progress. Registered users can turn off the tooltip feature using options menu in the sidebar. Also, note that double-clicking an artist name will automatically redirect you to the artists' page in the Resource Library. Same goes for labels.
Custom Filters:
Registered users can create and save (and share) custom filters based on one or more of the following criteria: artist, label, country, genre, tag or phrase. For the database-saavy, selecting multiple items across the artist, label and country columns are appended with an "or" operator, while the genre, tag and phrase columns are added with an "and". The selection of multiple entries within the genre or tag columns however, is applied with an "or". Confused yet? How about this: country labels are applied to individual posts going back to November 18, 2009 while genre tags are attached to artists which means that they only reference artists that are in our database, not necessarily all the artists we've ever covered. It's an imperfect system, but hey, we live in an imperfect world. But if you're a mySQL wizard and you think you know a better way, by all means, lend a hand!
Other User Features:
Besides the ability to post comments and the aforementioned artist watchlist and custom/saved filter functions, registered users also possess the abilities to create and maintain a custom site profile and to send private messages. More features are currently in development and if you have a suggestion, feel free to let us know.
