EL-SD A contract (video)

The blog Birds Need Feed is premiering EL-SD's brand new video "A contract":

EL-SD - A debt

A just-posted, previously-unreleased alt-take of the track "A dept" from EL-SD's excellent "Repeating patterns" 7" EP.

Clubnight show review

Festivalrykten has a review of Friday's Clubnight show with Vånna Inget, Gamla Pengar and EL-SD: (in Swedish)

It's a Trap! Clubnights 3/16: Vånna Inget + EL-SD + Gamla Pengar

Friday! Gamla Pengar + EL-SD + Vånna Inget at Debaser Malmö! Be there! The FB evite:

It's a Trap! Clubnights 2012 update

I am thrilled to announce that in addition to the previously announced It's a Trap! Clubnights gigs with We Are the Storm/Helsinki Poetry (this Friday! holy shit!) and Caotico (April 13!), we will be welcoming Millencolin/The Peepshows indierock sideproject Franky Lee plus Tiger Bell to the stage of Debaser Malmö on February 17. And that's not all: we've also got Vånna Inget, EL-SD and Gamla Pengar coming down on March 16 and you know that one is gonna rule! Wish I could be there personally, but hey, maybe I'll make it over this coming summer.

EL-SD - A contract

A second track off of EL-SD's excellent new 7" EP "Repeating patterns".

EL-SD - A will (video)

New from Kvalität, a clip from the very-excellent EL-SD. Also: note that the bassist is wearing a t-shirt from similarly quality act The Nature.

MP3: EL-SD - A will

Falling way behind on all the music I want to post, but a promise is a promise and I'd be seriously remiss if I didn't talk up the new EL-SD because they are absolutely one of my favorite bands right now. I kid you not, I've been jamming their demo tracks on the regular for over a year now and it's well past due I had something to share so, at long last, here is the lead track from the band's new 7" EP "Repeating patterns", due out November 30 via /. So if you're like me and you dig so-called "angular" guitar rock with discordant leads and a sharp-edged rhythm section, you'll definitely dig this. And if you're in Stockholm, you should check out the record release show at Walla Scen in Årsta on December 3 with Estroboscorpio. I know I'd be there if I could.

Atlas to release EL-SD 7"

Premium Swedish noiserockers EL-SD have officially joined forces with (Traktor) for the release of an upcoming 4-song 7" EP. No exact release date has been set yet, but they say to expect it around October and, if the rough mix samples I've heard so far are any indication, it will seriously rule all.

Martin Senter - På tal om allting + EL-SD news

As with all proper singles, Martin Senter's new track "Elak" has a flipside:
And speaking of Martin, he told me recently that his band EL-SD will begin recording an album in January with the esteemed Carl Vikman, a very talented producer/engineer who should send me the new Lukestar album despite what that band's management says. Anyhow, there's no agenda or label associated with EL-SD at this point, but I should hopefully be able to share some demos or something at some point soon.

MP3: Martin Senter - Elak

I don't mean to be one of those sites who leaves you bereft of fresh content during the holidays, at least not yet, but the truth of the matter is that I've actually been working too damn much. As in dayjob work; the stuff that pays the bills. So while I have a rather large backlog of news item waiting to be posted that will still have to wait until another day, let me share with you a new solo track from Martin Senter called "Elak". It's got the bounce of his Per Egland remix, but it's also got the same sort of indie/electronic quirk as that other solo track of his I posted awhile back. Either way, it's good stuff and it'll be interesting to see what he does with a full album and I do believe one is coming. Whether it'll beat EL-SD to the punch, I dunno, but I'm looking forward to both.

MP3: Korova Station - Come on Come on

Hard for me to think of these dudes as something other than the little siblings of EL-SD, but that probably has more to do with which band I heard first than anything else. Anyhow, that dude Pontus is a beast on the kit no matter how you look at it, googly eyes or not. And yeah, support your (local) noiserock band!

MP3: EL-SD - Hille

I haven't been posting too many mp3s lately because there hasn't been too many releases that I'm really excited about. Of course I could keep on posting negative reviews of stuff I dislike, but that's extremely depressing, not to mention needlessly tedious. I still have to listen to the stuff, y'know? So what I'm going to do is what I've been doing (more or less) which is post more tracks from bands I've already talked up. I pretty much have only been listening to the same dozen-plus bands anyway, so it logically follows that my playlist here reflects that. Anyhow, EL-SD impressed me a lot with their side of their Axe split from a few months back and the group is now working on a full-length album. I've been lucky enough to receive a few preproduction samples and lucky for you, I've been given permission to share one. "Hille" doesn't differ much from the template on display in "Walking sideways"; they're still building walls of discordant noiserock anchored by a heavy rhythm section, but oh man, do they have hooks too! I wouldn't think it possible with such weird vocals, but they pull it off exceptionally well. I guess you could say that weird = memorable in this case. I'm told the band is currently seeking label support and though I'm not optimistic for them, I'm eager to be proven wrong. Personally, I'd go DIY in the face of so few indie labels putting out actual indierock, but hey, like I said, I'm happy to be refuted on the subject. Don't let my negativity rub off on you. Spread the word/music.
