Bad Hands - Bad hands

Remember Bad Hands? Per Nordmark's new solo project? Y'know, the drummer from Fireside whose played with all sorts of Swedish elite such as Christian Kjellvander, Britta Persson and so on? Well, I've just been handed their eponymous single and I'm happy to be able to share it with you. Apparently a 10-track album with 10 different guest vocalists is on the way via NONS later this year and this particular track (which you might have already heard via myspace) features Nina Kinert on lead. Sound-wise, it's kind of what I'd expect from a Stockholm-based drummer-led project. Very krauty with a bit of artsy electro, not too dissimilar from Existensminimum (drummer/engineer Magnus Henriksson's solo project). Not very flashy either -- drummers understand it's the supporting players who make the difference, so they often remain in service of the song even when they take the helm. Of course, the beat still takes precedence, even if it's subtle. As a drummer myself, I'm really looking forward to hearing what else he'll come up with.

Du Pacque's line "my eyes are perfectly still" repeated all over again in their song "The great reveal"

Masterful. This album will make you readdress what you thought you knew of Brun. Smokey vox and bewitching string segments set stall on this career busting 17 song span of live tracks recorded towards the tail end of 2006. The collection foists great merit on her performances. At times Brun eclipes �str�m, Weeping Willows, Madrugada in the bitter sweet stakes. The big sounds wailing blue, alt-country (I should be shot for using that description) on such 'beauts as "Lift me" (with equally beguiling Nina Kinert as opposed to Madrugada's Sivert H�yem), and the more up tempo "No. 6", are just two very strong highlights. "Balloon ranger" darts violin, the double bass. KT Tunstall would be proud of "So you did it again".

Kite Recordings has announced that the title for the new Tomas Denver Jonsson album will be "Barely touching it". The record features twelve new songs produced by Carl Edlom and features Tomas' regular backing band The September Sunrise alongside guest appearances from Ned Oldham (Anomoanon/Palace Music) and Nina Kinert. Look for it around September.

Thomas is a singer/songwriter from Sweden. 2005 promises to be his best year yet, as he will be touring Scandinavia as support for The Anomoanon (Ned Oldham) in late January and then heading over to the US for the renown SXSW Festival in March.
