Aversionline recommends Throat

Aversionline recommends the new 7" EP "Adult situations" from Finnish heavy Noiserockers Throat: http://www.aversionline.com/blahg/2011/02/09/throat-adult-situations-7/
I randomly downloaded the band's earlier cassette release (available here) after seeing them listed on some shows with Hebosagil and was likewise stoked on the band. Judging by that short sample, I'd wager the new 7" is a serious bruiser and would love to get my hands on a copy.

MP3: Tremoro Tarantura - Traumarium

Can't say that I know much about Tremoro Tarantura, but that's fine -- I almost prefer my psych/drone artists to be mysterious recluses. Keep it all in yr head where it belongs. What I do know is that I'm way into this. Looping, open-chord guitar figures build and mutate as the voice of Zweizz mutters distorted curses under the surface, all while the drums keep pounding away until it eventually arrives at peak white Noise/black metal dissolution. Much like The Goner, another favorite mining similar turf, Tremoro Tarantura shows that modern drone minimalism does not need to be ambient. My advice: listen loud.

Happy birthday to Absolut Noise, The Swede Beat

Happy 5th birthday to Swedish music blog Absolut Noise: http://absolutNoise.blogspot.com/2011/02/absolut-Noise-is-five-years-old.html
Likewise, happy 2nd birthday to online newsletter/webzine The Swede Beat who are turning 2 and celebrating with a clubnight in Brooklyn featuring a DJ set from Victoria Bergsman/Taken By Trees: http://www.theswedebeat.com/events
When I started this site way back when there was literally no one else out there exclusively covering Scandinavian music. Over the years, many sites have come and gone, but for the ones that stick around: much love! It makes my job easier and the more niches we all cover, the better it is for the readers and the artists.

The Guardian vs the Black Hole Crew

The Guardian reports the new scene of necromantic Noise coming out of Norway: http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/musicblog/2011/feb/02/necromantic-rock-metal-norway
Of course, regular readers should already be well aware that they are talking about Haust, Okkultokrati and Årabrot, three of Norway's best. No idea what those commenters are thinking praising Turbonegro over these dudes as if the last 15 years didn't happen, but whatever. Remain ignorant and enjoy Doctor Midnight & The Mercy Cult.

Fluid Radio reviews Deaf Center

Fluid Radio on the new album "Owl splinters" from Norwegian experimental/Noise duo Deaf Center: http://www.fluid-radio.co.uk/2011/02/deaf-center-owl-splinters/
Definitely recommended listening! I should hopefully be gathering some thoughts for my own review/mp3 post in the not-so-distant future.

BCore to reissue Starmarket on vinyl for the first time

Spanish label is reissuing Starmarket's landmark "Five hours light" album on vinyl for the very first time in February, something that I suppose explains the reason the band will be performing said album down there on February 4. As with the folks at BCore, this record is a seminal piece of (Swedish) musical history to me, helping to bridge the gap between hardcore, post-hardcore and indie/Noiserock -- it's the reason I discovered Kevlar/KVLR and subsequently took them on tour and put out their self-titled CD, which of course still stands as a crucial step in the evolution of this site.
