Overcoat Recordings will be releasing a reissue of Nicolai Dunger's very excellent 1999 album "The cloud is learning" on February 22 next year. The album was produced with assistance from the guys in The Soundtrack of Our Lives and will include the two unreleased bonus tracks "This Cloud is Learning" and "First Born Track". And that's not the only Dunger reissue on the horizon either. SF-based label Runt LLC/Plain Recordings will be reissuing the 3xLP vinyl trilogy in a special boxset, each album pressed on 180-gram audiophile-quality vinyl. The set contains the albums "Sweat her kiss", "A dress book" and "Blind blemished blues" originally released by Hotstuff/Virgin Sweden back in 2001-2002. The music on each album is centered around a specific theme, such as all-instrumentals ("A dress book") or outdoor live recordings ("Sweat her kiss", my favorite of the lot).
Added a new mp3 today from Last Days of April. Their latest album "Ascend to the Stars" just came out over here in the US and the track "Playerin" is easily my favorite from that release. In fact, it was my favorite summer single last year.
Sigh. It was only a matter of time, but Virgin Records Sweden has contacted me and kindly asked me to remove the mp3s from their artists (Nicolai Dunger, Melody Club, Caesars Palace and The Ark). And I do mean kindly - no threats or anything, just a polite request. Maybe we'll work something in the future for authorized downloads, but until then there will be no more Virgin artists represented on the playlist. Kind of a pity since they are some of my favorites, but that's the way it goes.UPDATE: The nice people at Virgin are looking into working out an arrangement in the future. Nothing yet, but we'll see. As for now, get a preview of "Who Will Buy These Wonderful Evils?", the new 2xCD from Virgin/Dolores showcasing the label's past and present artists. It comes out February 24 and will be celebrated with a party at Club Debaser in Stockholm. Scheduled to appear and spin records are Ebbot from The Soundtrack of Our Lives, Jocke Åhlund from Caesars Palace, Reine Fiske from Dungen and more. Tickets go on sale on the 7th. Look for it in May from Peaceville. In BD related news, side-project Wrongside has finished recording their debut MCD for a release in April on Duplicate Records. Now tentively titled "Carheart" (as opposed to the original title "The Drama Hour") they describe it as "outlandishly cool and mindbogglingly mindboggling." To me that describes most everything from Jester, but hey, check it out and decide for yourself. The new Katatonia album has been finalized.
New live set today! This time we've got The Ark live from Hultsfred 2001, as broadcasted on P3. I edited out all the between song banter, but if you're also interested in the full version, just ask.The Sounds got themselves a new, internationally flavored website. Well, it's actually not that different, but they do have quite a bit more info in English. Like I've said before, keep your eyes on this band - they have a lot of potential to be big.Download the new Fireside track "Throw It Away" right here! Startracks is also encouraging people to post responses in their guestbook. My first impression is that it sounds like a mix of the newer "Elite"-style with a touch more of their hardcore roots. Anyhow, I'm still excited for when the new album comes out.Värttinä celebrates their 20th anniversary this year and has a new album coming out called "Iki". It won't be in stores until March 11, but you will be able to mailorder it weeks ahead of time from NorthSide. The label also promises to provide advance mp3s from the band in the near future, along with previews of new releases from Mari Boine and Frifot.Photos and video from The Soundtrack of Our Lives/Cato Salsa Experience show at the Graceland in Seattle on 11/23/2002 are available here.Dimension Zero are set to enter the studio on February 10 with producer/In Flames frontman Anders Fridén to record their new album, to be titled "This IS Hell". Look for it around September/October on Regain Records. The working-title of the album is "Satan Berzerker-Mongo", which is a quite suiting title. It's gonna be a berzerk album.

New live set today! This time we've got The Ark live from Hultsfred 2001, as broadcasted on P3. I edited out all the between song banter, but if you're also interested in the full version, just ask.
The Sounds got themselves a new, internationally flavored website. Well, it's actually not that different, but they do have quite a bit more info in English. Like I've said before, keep your eyes on this band - they have a lot of potential to be big.
Download the new Fireside track "Throw It Away" right here! My first impression is that it sounds like a mix of the newer "Elite"-style with a touch more of their hardcore roots. Anyhow, I'm still excited for when the new album comes out.
Värttinä celebrates their 20th anniversary this year and has a new album coming out called "Iki". It won't be in stores until March 11, but you will be able to mailorder it weeks ahead of time from NorthSide. The label also promises to provide advance mp3s from the band in the near future, along with previews of new releases from Mari Boine and Frifot.
Photos and video from The Soundtrack of Our Lives/Cato Salsa Experience show at the Graceland in Seattle on 11/23/2002 are available here.
Dimension Zero are set to enter the studio on February 10 with producer/In Flames frontman Anders Fridén to record their new album, to be titled "This IS Hell". Look for it around September/October on Regain Records.
The working-title of the album is "Satan Berzerker-Mongo", which is a quite suiting title. Their debut album "Inland Traveller" gets a US release later this year from Galaxy Gramophone/Parasol and the new one comes out in March. I might've put this track up before, but I can't remember. Anyhow, don't miss it this time. Secondly, we have another track from the great Caesars Palace (aka The Caesars or the Twelve Caesars, as they known in the US). Simply put, a great pop band.
I put up a track from Peter, Bjorn and John today. It's quality power-pop - reminds a bit of British Invasion kinda stuff. Look to your right. There's a bunch of news today about what bands are gonna be on Musikbyrån and various other Swedish TV programs in the future, but since I can't watch it, I ain't gonna post it. I guess if you really want me to make note of that stuff you can let me know. Otherwise, I'll stick with news relevant to the rest of the world.Dee Rangers will be travelling to London in January to record their new record at Toe-Rag Studio. Having just finished up with working on the latest White Stripes album, producer Liam Watson will oversee the proceedings.Dark Funeral has severed their ties with US label Necropolis Records. Their statement on the matter:Before we signed this North American deal with Necropolis Records, we were warned by pretty much everybody to not sign with them. It is apparently well-known within the scene as well as between various business associates that Paul and his Necropolis record label have routinely not paid most they have worked with. They have defaulted on payments towards their artists, for studio sessions, to their distributors etc. We had heard these rumours, and the warnings coming in to us, but we didn't want to judge anyone before we had investigated it further by ourselves.Usually there are too many rumours circulating out there and its way too often they lack evidence and/or any substance. After many discussions and meetings with Paul Thind, we, the band and our label MNW/No Fashion Records decided to sign and license Diabolis Interium for North America to Necropolis Records. Since we had our suspicions we protected ourselves by Dark Funeral would like to put this unfortunate incident behind them now and move on to the future. The band plans to continue working on writing and rehearsing new material very soon. Anybody labels interested in working with them should contact either Lord Ahriman and/or Emperor Magus Caligula.
