Bob Hund/Bergman Rock/Sci-Fi Skåne frontman Thomas Öberg has a new project with Graham Lewis of legendary UK punk band Wire (or as this article puts it, The Wire) entitled 27#11. They too will make their live debut at the Malmö Music Doc festival. Check the article link for more details.

Swedish music show Musikbyrån celebrates 10 years with a marathon of programming on October 20, including many classic performances from bands such as Refused, Bob Hund and The Hives. Read more: http://svt.se/musikbyran

Envelopes
Demon
Brille/EMI

With a promiscuous and skew approach, Envelopes hit me right in the gut. If you mixed Talking Heads with early Bob Hund, this is what it would sound like. But the more you listen, the more you discover. With an intact lo-fi sound, these guys attack with catchy melodies and a flawless recording that, to me, can be seen as a reaction on how the record industry sounds today. Cause really, if this record was released 20 years ago, it would be so up-to-date. If you're into the Sarah Records back-catalogue, Pixies and even Laakso, don't miss this record. And do check out the brilliant single "Sister in love" and the recently released single not featured on this record, "Free jazz"! Smart and joyful indiepop that deserves a wider audience. I know I'm hooked!

Bergman Rock has rescheduled their upcoming UK shows:

04/12 - Barfly, London
04/13 - Metro Club, London

The band wants you to know that even though the club is billing it as Bob Hund, it really is a Bergman Rock show and all songs will be in English. Drummer Mats has also not fully recovered from his accident (the reason for the initial cancellation), so his place will be filled in by Christian Gabel. In related news, look for Bob Hund/Bergman Rock sideproject Sci-Fi Skane to play the Notting Hill Arts Club on April 10. Not that you should care though, 'cuz you should be at Tack! Tack! Tack! instead.

Kinda reminds me of Bob Hund, but with more of Bear Quartet's willingness to experiment. I dig it.

Sci-fi Skåne
Känslan av att jorden krymper växer
Silence

Sci-fi Skåne consists of Thomas Öberg and Jonas Jonasson, both of Bob Hund/Bergman Rock fame. I used to be a very big fan of Bob Hund when I was younger, but lost interest in them about 7 years ago. Sci-fi Skåne has been described as 'synth blues', and that term alone makes me shiver. But it's in fact a fair description since this whole album is as horrible as those two ill-fitting words make me feel. It could have been better though. Last year Sci-fi Skåne released the single "Jag har aldrig bott vid en landsväg" which sounded like Bob Hund in the good old days, and that song alone is the reason why I decided to give this album a listen. But there's nothing to match that song on this album, what we get instead is just a bunch of dreary songs that makes me feel like I'm trapped in a hole full of old mustard while listening to them. I would gladly recommend Bob Hund's "Omslag: Martin Kann" for anyone who's interested in some fine Pere Ubu-like indierock sung in Swedish, but don't bother with this release, it's just a complete waste of time.

Either way it is immaterial when we put "Mopeds + Review" in the same bracket - you see, you'll know The Mopeds are no upstarts. It can be said they’re a well respected non-Stockholm band. They feature majestic trombonist and everyone's favourite producer/horn player Jens Lindgård (Bob Hund, The Cardigans, Eggstone, Tom Jones, Roxette, Ulf Lundell, St. Etienne, and many more. More recently you have heard them play with the band David & the Citizens and Damn!). Just Google "Jens Lindgård" for a long list of credits. The new disc, what's the deal?
No bloody idea. Have not listened!
Let's guess. The lazy taglines have them alongside fellow Pågs Brainpool and Eggstone, but we know The Mopeds will have gone all McFly on us instead! Mopeds parked up outside the US embassy of radio pop, MTV indie but then with attention to detail "Fortissimo" won't be knocked. They occupy peer status – check that list up above again.
"Fortissimo" will be fast, it'll be furious, it'll mess with your days and fill your nights. That's if you are done with first and second albums "The hills are alive with the sound of mopeds" or "The land of the three" - because without listening, rest assured the review will read positive. There are some things you can rely on.

Couldn't have said it much better myself, and I've actually heard the damn thing. Download a choice track from "Fortissimo" over on the right.
