The Pitchfork top 50 singles chart of 2003 is almost completely devoid of any Scandinavian influence, except for Junior Senior charting at an impressive #5 with "Move Your Feet".

Denmark's The Raveonettes will co-headline the NME music awards along with Har Mar Superstar at the London Astoria on February 8. They are actually the only Scandinavian group to make the mag's top 50 list this year, unless you count Junior Senior making the singles chart. Read the full list here. And don't look to Q either, their list isn't much different.

In other JS news, the album "D-D-Don't Don't stop the Beat" made it to #11 on Blender Magazine's best-of-the-year list and the single "Move Your Feet" made it even higher, to #6. Not bad!

Get ready to start hearing a lot more Junior Senior because the guys are going Hollywood. Both "Move Your Feet" and "Shake Your Coconuts" are being prominentely featured in the forthcoming live action movie/cartoon Warner Brothers "Looney Tunes: Back in Action". "Shake Your Coconuts" will also be the featured single for all of the film's promotional material. The movie stars WB classic characers Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck alongside 'real' stars like Steve Martin, Brendan Fraser, Jenna Elfman, Timothy Dalton and Heather Locklear. It was directed by Joe Dante ("Gremlins", "Small Soldiers") and opens November 14 in the US and December 12 in Europe. In other news, the band is currently working on a new video for "Shake Your Coconuts" with director Diane Martel, whose previous work includes videos for artists such as LL Cool J, Christina Aguilera, Gangstar, Justin Timberlake and Ol' Dirty Bastard.

Danish "donkeypunk" band Powersolo report that they have recently signed with Crunchy Frog (Junior Senior, The Raveonettes) and are hard at work on their new album, tentatively due out in February next year. They say the sound will be "a mix of punkrock, pop, country and western, rockabilly and... God knows what else."
