Currently bubbling under on Web and playing out around Stockholm is Miss Li, a truly new artist. Miss Li is fresh as a daisy, infectious, talented, classy, framed and fashioned. She's a busy women; this interview took over 6 weeks to conduct, just long enough for her to sign a record contract and slate an album release! This is it so far.
- Jason Christie

You have tried a plethora of genres, how does Miss Li compare?

I've sung Opera, jazz, blues and even heavy metal!
The Miss Li music is very simple, but with my experiences I'm able to use my voice however I like and with my extremely competent and crazy musicians, the songs turn out to be... the Miss Li sound!

What are you trying to do with this new sound of yours?

Nothing! That's the thing about this Miss Li-project. I just do! For the first time I just follow my heart. I just do and this is how it turned out.

There are some odd demos, what else is in store?

Well, I stepped into the studio again and recorded about 20 songs in two weeks...
Then I signed to National who release the album on November 22nd.

You seem to have fun with these... what are your boundaries?

I haven't really any boundaries ...except my piano knowledge ...ha-ha, I had never played the piano before I started writing these songs in February 2006.

The demo recording was very spontaneous. Gustav and Clas (drummer and bass player) heard the songs one hour before we stepped into the studio. We recorded 6 songs in 4 hours and we improvised while recording it.

What are your current musical influences?

Nowadays I'm mostly listening to stuff from the 30s - 50s ... bluegrass, blues, early rhythm & blues.

When I started writing I was listening to music from the 60s and the 70s (The Kinks, The Who, Beatles, Stones, Small Faces). But I don't think I can say that it influenced me a lot because I can't hear any of that in my songs.

A few female artists will always influence me: Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin, Kate Bush and Bettye Lavette.

The only new stuff that I listened to at the time, writing these songs was White Stripes and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Some of you press photographs are emotive, and some are actually revealing – what's the story behind you photo shoots?

Ha-ha, the story is that I hadn't slept in about 48 hours when I took the pictures. I can't really tell you what I had been up to, cause I don't really know... but anyhow. I'm quite tired of the "typical Swedish singer-songwriter girl" who doesn't dare to be a little bit sexy....

With such raunchy images, how many Internet husbands do you have (apart from me?)

Baby...it is ONLY you... I promise!!!

If you had to choose (for a lifetime) - Would you a) Work in McDonalds only and eat wherever you liked b)Work wherever you liked and eat only McDonalds.

They have started this "healthy thing" with carrots and vegetarian alternative and fish and stuff, I would probably choose to work wherever I wanted and eat every day at McDonalds, because we'll probably eat there everyday when I'm on tour!

Would you like to a) be on Bingo Lotto or b) play at Micke Bindefelt's birthday party?

Bingo Lotto, cause you know... Honey... you're questions are really stupid...but it's fun =)

Do you own a TV license!

Hrmmm... I can't answer that question... ;-)
